(Dr. Avtar Singh Bimbraw) served on different position since 1986 to 2014 and retired as Senior Agronomist/Professor of Agronomy from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, Punjab, India. In the 28 years service, was involved in teaching, research and extension in Agronomy. Also served for 2.5 years as Director cum Principal, Gursewa Institute of Science and Technology, Panam, Garhshanker, Punjab. He developed the agronomic technologies and evaluated the genotypes of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, forage and fodder crops, sugarcane, pulses, cotton rice-wheat cropping and also worked on conservation agriculture. He served as major advisor of 9 students of post-graduate of Agronomy. He published more than 310 publications including research papers in National & International scientific journals, Magzines and Newspapers, participated in many conferences/seminars, contributed chapters in the edited books, published research bulletins and books. He act as Editor in Chief of Current Agriculture Research Journal up to 2020 presently act as Consultant Editor of Journal of Environmental Biology and reviewer of many journals. He was honored with Certificate of Excellence for outstanding and extra-ordinary achievements in chosen fields of activity and services rendered to promote greater friendship and India International co-operation for the year of 2003 and 2004 by Friendship Forum of India. Similarly, Certificate of Felicitation for outstanding and extra-ordinary achievements in chosen fields of activity and services rendered to promote greater friendship and India-International co-operation for the year of 2003 and 2004 by Friendship Forum of India. Crop Research Award 2004-presented for contributions in the field of Agronomy and good hand –on experience in research and strong current development background in the specialization in Agronomy sponsored by Agricultural Research Information Centre, Hissar. Professor E.P. Odum Gold Medal awarded in the recognition of Commendable Research Activities given by International Society for Ecological Communications during the International Symposium on Recent Advances in Contemporary Biology, Environmental Issues & Sustainable Development on 29-30 September, 2007. His name was listed in the Eminent Personalities of 20th Century (First edition) and in The Rising Personalities of India.
