Dr. Jean-François HOCQUETTE | World Class Scientist Award

JF Hocquette's research focuses on muscle biology in relation to cattle growth and beef quality, including “cultured meat”. He has developed a research program on muscle biochemistry and genomics with implications for beef consumption science. This program looks for muscle biomarkers related to beef tenderness and marbling to better predict beef eating quality using the Meat Standards Australia (MSA) grading system. His research is widely cited and has contributed to the launch of a new premium beef brand ("OR ROUGE"). As a scientist and President of the French Association for Animal Production, JF Hocquette has organized the World Congress of Animal Science and the annual meeting of the European Federation of Animal Science in Lyon in 2023 (with around 2,300 delegates).
