Dr. B. Vasantharaj David has contributed significantly during the past more than six decades towards teaching, extension, Research and administration in the fields of entomology, crop protection sciences, conceptual development of two research institutes founding of biotechnology companies Sun Agro Industries India in 1992 and Sun Agro Biosystems Private Ltd. in 2001 for manufacture and marketing of biocontrol products promoting Integrated Pest Management (IPM) concept. Guided 11 for Ph.D. and 16 for M.Phil. Contributed substantially on the biosystematics of a group of insects viz., whiteflies (Aleyrodidae: Homoptera) of India, Sri Lanka and Myanmar. Apart from describing more than 250 new species, discovered the subfamily Aleurodicinae in India. Dr. David organized an International Symposium on Relevance of GLP to India in collaboration with DST which paved way for the establishment of National GLP Compliance Authority in India and more than 50 laboratories have been certified so far.
