Dr. Somashekharappa, P.R., did his Ph.D. in Agronomy in the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangaluru.He is presently working as Farm Superintendent and Assistant Professor of Agronomy at ARS, Arsikere, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka. Dr. Somashekharappa has significantly contributed with 15 years of experience in the field of agricultural sciences. He has worked on cropping system research, weed management, nutrient management, organic farming, weather forecast, agro-meteorology, farm management, etc. in Southern Transition Zone of Karnataka. He did research on chilli based cropping systems under STZ of Karnataka and standardization of nutrient management in maize based cropping system under Bhadra Command Area. Dr. Somashekharappa did three post graduate diplomas in system management in natural farming, plant protection and Agriculture Extension Management. He has undergone 4 higher academic training programmes on personality development, organic farming, DSSAT crop simulation model, agro-meteorology. He has published more than 25 research articles in reputed national and international journals and he has also written one book on organic farming. He has participated in more than 10 international seminars in the country. He has received 8 times certificate of Merit from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru for leading in seed production programme .
