Dr. Hareesh Kumar PV is a Physical Oceanographer served DRDO for 36 years under various capacities. He spearheaded the oceanographic research at NPOL and coordinated the tactical deployment and evaluation of sonar systems with Navy / other organizations / Projects. He planned and executed several Physical Oceanography and Integrated Experiments, Unique Science Programs and National Level Experiments. Provided unique explanations for the various ocean dynamic processes viz. Ocean fronts, warm pool, upwelling, saltwater pumping, summer cooling, internal waves, etc., and Quantified the influence of various features on underwater acoustic propagation. He introduced new concepts based on the information gained from research to convert open research into applied research for the effective utilization of oceanography information for operational purposes. He enhanced the Lab visibility at national level through multi-organizational interaction. He is a Reviewer of several National and International Journals, Guest Editor of JASI, Guide for Ph.D., CUSAT (5 students were awarded Ph.D. under his Guidance) and Life Member of several Professional Societies (IMS, ISRS, OSI, ASI, ASCI). He Organized several National / International Conference/Symposia/Workshops, Chaired several sessions, Delivered Key Note / Plenary Talks /WMO Talk / Science Day Oration. He served in several in-house Administrative / Management Committees and National Level Committees (DOD, MOES, NIOT, NRB, DRDO Labs) as Chairman / Member. Received several awards including the DRDO Lab Scientist and the Prestigious Commendation certificate from FOC-in-C (SNC). Officially Incredible!!!
